With a Business Phone UC License, we have equipped your voice solution with a Cloud-based Session Border Controller for security. You will not require to have any VPN or other SIP or firewall solution to enable remote workers.

IMPORTANT

Using Softphones or Deskphones outside of the corporate network requires either an existing VPN connection or the protection of a Session Border Controller. If you have either of these in place today and the licensing to support those users, you have the security infrastructure to support work at home staff.

IMPORTANT – Re: Mobile Twinning and EC 500

This is not a remote working solution, but only a temporary fix. All calls that are forwarded, take up two lines on your system. If you are using a PRI circuit for this, you are using up 2 channels on every call. Example. A PRI has 23 channels for inbound and outbound. If 11 people are using the call forwarding feature, you have one line left. BrantTel has been reaching out to our customers and we have been getting busy signals on the main line, which means, the PRI is at capacity. Using Twinning or EC500 will assist businesses with work at home staff using their mobile phones, however be aware of your line capacity.

Other System Types

Many modern phone systems use Mobile Twinning or Call forwarding as a feature option for users. We at BrantTel can’t stress enough the importance of understanding your system capacities and line and channel quantities. Customers calling into your business that get a busy signal, usually assume something is affecting your business, not good. If you don’t know your line capacity, call your service provider to find out how many lines or channels you have.

SIP Trunking

SIP Trunking is a flexible phone line to the outside world (PSTN). Carried over an internet link, many SIP channels can run over an internet connection. The benefit of using this Technology is Bursting. Many SIP providers can provide bursting on demand, so if you need extra channels during busy times or when staff are working from call forwarding, this is a good solution to consider. The provider can scale your trunking up so you can use as many lines as your internet connection can handle at any one time.
